Textures inspired by the ripples and patterns of the beautiful Cook Islands

This pattern was originally designed in NZ, but the textures were inspired by the ripples and patterns found in Cook Island art and design. The piece is designed to have a soft amount of texture, perfect for little figures to explore and enjoy – while the knitter enjoys an easy and flowing rhythm. The overall blanket is suitable for babies and for the knees of those feeling the cold.

Ripples + Textures Knit Blanket V.1 Knit Kit Colour Options:

Pattern Level: Advancing Beginner

Estimated Knit Time: 10 hours+

Wool: Sumptuous; by The Woven Co

Needles: 5mm, can be knit on straights or circulars with 60 to 80cm cable

Skills: Knit, purl, cast on, cast off, following a pattern of knit and purl stitches, changing colour

Pattern by: Michelle Joy (Stewart), written in a less traditional style to be less technical and give the crafter room to adjust the fit and style

Notes:

This lovely blanket is worked ‘all in one go’ with the borders knitted up the side of the piece as part of the pattern – so stitch markers are advised.  Optional blanket stitch on the ends of the blanket to add a little something something!

This pattern is suitable for beginners adding more skills, those comfortable with knit, purl, cast on and off, and happy counting stitches and following a pattern.
